SMILES THROUGH THE PHONE

Listening to her voicemail, I could feel the warmth of my smile on my face.

The tone of Margaret's voice, the sweet words of encouragement, her sincere happiness.

She had just read an article about me in the Newspaper and she could not have been happier for me.   I could hear her smile coming right through the phone lines and couldn’t help but smile myself.

These are the friends to have and I am blessed with many just like Margaret.  They are excited for you and ready to celebrate your successes, but are also right there for you when things aren’t so sun shiny and happy.

Do you have friends who make you smile?  Are you that friend who encourages and makes others smile?  When was the last time you called someone to tell them you are happy for  them, you’re thinking about them or to just  say “How are you doing?”.

I have a friend who lives 600 hundred miles from me.  We have horrible luck catching each other on the phone because we’re always running in different directions somehow without our phones.  The upside of this is that we leave fun and encouraging voice-mail messages for each other that make the other smile and feel blessed.  I love listening to her voicemails – especially when she’s still laughing from my message and telling me “it was exactly what I needed today.”
